The Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) now offers its Infection Control (ICE) exam in Spanish. The ICE Practice Test is also available in Spanish to help candidates prepare. DANB’s Radiation Health and Safety (RHS) exam has been available in Spanish since January 2024.

DANB’s RHS and ICE exams are its two most popular exams, with more than 18,000 exams administered each year. DANB exams are recognized or required by 39 states and D.C. DANB is the first and only dental testing organization to offer exams in Spanish.

“After English, Spanish is the most common language spoken by dental assistants,” said Aaron White, DANB’s Chief Operating Officer. “Offering our most popular exams in Spanish increases access to certification opportunities and enables Spanish-speaking dental assistants to be well-prepared to serve their communities.”

About DANB exams in Spanish

Spanish is the second-most-common language spoken in the U.S. and the second-most-common language spoken by dental assistants taking DANB exams. The exams are offered in Modern Spanish. DANB worked closely with exam translation consultants and subject matter experts to ensure exam accuracy and integrity.

The exams in English and Spanish are equivalent. They follow the same exam outline, use the same question bank, have the same pass point, and have been constructed based on the same psychometrically valid principles. Candidates who opt to take the exam in Spanish will be able to see the questions in English or Spanish.
