In 2013, the Alabama legislature passed a law authorizing the Board of Dental Examiners of Alabama to license Expanded Duty Dental Assistants. However, in March 2018, with the Board’s endorsement, the Alabama legislature passed a bill into law eliminating the Expanded Duty Dental Assistant category of licensee.
