What is a digital badge?

Digital badges are online emblems that represent an earned credential or a completed learning activity. Digital badges are embedded with data so the credential can be confirmed and verified online in real time.

How does a credential get displayed as a badge?

DANB has partnered with Credly to display the credentials you’ve earned as an online badge, issued and managed through Credly’s website. This enables you to manage, share and verify your credentials online.

What are the benefits of a badge?

Digital badges are a way to share your achievements online in a way that is simple and trusted and can be easily verified in real time. Badges provide employers and peers with evidence of the steps you took to earn your credential and what you’ve learned. Credly also offers labor market insights based on your skills. You can search and apply for job opportunities right through Credly.

How will I know if I’ve earned a badge?

You will receive an email notification from Credly with instructions for claiming your badge and setting up your account. The subject line of the email will be: “Dental Assisting National Board issued you a new badge.”

What if I did not receive the email or I deleted it by accident?

You can claim your badge by going directly to Credly’s website and creating an account with the email address that is on file and connected to your DANB or DALE Foundation credential.

What if I have a new email address other than the one you issued my badge to?

What if I don’t want my badge to be public?

You can easily adjust your privacy settings in Credly. You’re in complete control of the information about yourself that is made public.

Is there a fee to use Credly?

No. This is a service we provide to you, at no cost.

What’s to keep someone else from copying my badge and using it?

Badges are digital image files that are uniquely linked to data hosted on Credly. This link to verified data makes badges more reliable and secure than a paper-based certificate. It also eliminates the possibility of anyone claiming your credential and your associated identity.

How can I share my badge?

You can share your badge directly from Credly to LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook; over email; embedded in a website, in your email signature, and more. Here are some helpful links:
