If you’re interested in taking a DANB exam through online proctoring, there is some key information you should know and some technical requirements you must meet. If you fail to meet these requirements at the time of your exam appointment, you will not be allowed to continue, and your exam will be recorded as missed. Computer System Requirements

To take a DANB online proctored exam, there are two steps you must take to ensure that you meet the computer system requirements.

You will need a desktop or laptop computer that meets the following requirements:
  • Has a webcam
  • Has a microphone
  • Meets the system requirements

You will also need to run a system test in advance, using the same computer and location that you will use to take your exam. You will need to download and run the OnVUE software to run the system test.

Phone Requirements

You will need a mobile phone that can take and send photos. You will use your phone during check in to take and send a photo of yourself, your government-issued ID,and the room where you plan to test.

Testing Space Requirements

You can test at home or in another private location. The room in which you test should meet the following criteria: 

  • The space should be well lit.
  • The space should have walls and a door that can close.
  • There should be no distractions in the room.
  • There should be no posters or decorations with words on them.
  • The computer should not face a window.
  • No one else is permitted in the room with you while you are testing.

During the check-in process, you will be asked to take photos of your work area, which will be checked by a proctor prior to exam launch. Please ensure that your desktop is clean and that you are not within arm’s reach of books, notepads, sticky notes, papers, pens and pencils, or other prohibited items.
