Congratulations to 2016 Liz Koch Memorial Scholarship winners
The DALE Foundation’s scholarship committee has selected the winners of the 2016 annual Liz Koch Memorial Scholarship, which was open to all dental assistants, DANB certificants and other oral healthcare professionals. After receiving over 100 applications, the scholarship committee selected four winners in each category; category one is for dental professionals who have held DANB certification for more than two years, and category two is for dental professionals who are not DANB certified or who have held DANB certification for less than two years.

DANB now offers online exam applications
In summer 2016, DANB launched online applications for the DANB Radiation Health and Safety (RHS), Infection Control (ICE) and RHS/ICE combination exams, making applying for the exams faster and more convenient. Through the online applications, candidates can now:

  • Apply with a fast, easy online process
  • Access their Test Admission Notice online immediately after applying
  • Schedule an exam date with a Pearson VUE test site within four hours of applying online

Dental assistants move landmark bill forward
In May 2016, Connecticut’s governor signed a bill that created an Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA) in Connecticut. The law requires that Connecticut EFDAs hold DANB’s Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or Certified Orthodontic Assistant (COA) certification, complete an EFDA education program at a CODA-accredited program, and pass a DANB-administered exam in preventive and restorative functions. Connecticut is in the process of developing and adopting regulations to implement this new law.
