DANB Radiation Health and Safety Exam RHS

A passing score on DANB’s RHS® exam is recognized by or required to expose radiographs in 20 states and the District of Columbia. The RHS is one of the three component exams of the CDA® exam. The other two component exams are General Chairside Assisting (GC) and Infection Control (ICE®). Candidates who pass all three exams within a five-year period will earn CDA certification.

The RHS exam can also be taken separately to earn a certificate of knowledge-based competency. The three steps below outline the process for taking the RHS exam only.

Step One: Check Your Eligibility

There are no eligibility requirements for taking the RHS exam. Therefore, anyone can take this exam.

Step Two: Complete the Application and Submit the Fee

To apply for the RHS exam, please download and review the RHS application packet, which includes the RHS application. The fee for the RHS exam is $175 (check the RHS application packet for exceptions). The RHS application packet includes all the information you need about application requirements and deadlines.

Step Three: Schedule and Take the Exam

Within four weeks after your RHS exam application is received and processed, you will receive a notice from DANB that contains instructions on how to schedule your test. You can also refer to the RHS application packet for what to expect during and after the exam.

Take DANB’s RHS/ICE Exam Together and Save

Candidates can take DANB’s RHS and ICE exams together in the same test administration. The test fee ($250) is a savings of $100 over taking the RHS and ICE exams separately.
