DANB Reinstatement

Has Your Certification Expired?

DANB certification is valid for one year. You have a three-month grace period after your expiration date to renew. After this grace period ends, reinstatement options are available, depending on how long your certification has been expired. Check your wallet card or log in to your account to see the expiration date.

If your DANB CDA, COA, CPFDA or CRFDA certification has expired, an additional reinstatement fee, proof of meeting the CDE and DANB-accepted CPR requirements may be required to reinstate. In some cases, retesting all or some of the certification component exams is required. Please contact DANB’s Recertification Department for your reinstatement option(s). NELDA, CDPMA and COMSA certifications cannot be reinstated.

To protect the authenticity of its certification marks, DANB sends reports of lapsed certificants to state regulatory agencies. Misuse of any DANB certification mark is grounds for discipline under DANB’s Disciplinary Policy & Procedures. Download DANB's Disciplinary Policy & Procedures or contact DANB for a copy.

What Happens if I Don’t Recertify?

If you do not renew your DANB certification within three months of the expiration date:

  • You are no longer DANB certified
  • You may not use DANB credentials or registered DANB certification marks (CDA, COA, CPFDA, CRFDA, COMSA, or CDPMA)
  • You will no longer benefit from the greater earning power, peer recognition and enhanced employment opportunities that over 37,000 DANB certificants enjoy
