Dental Assistant Levels and Requirements
Radiography Requirements
To legally operate dental X-ray equipment and perform dental radiographic procedures under the indirect supervision of a dentist in Wyoming, a dental assistant must have:
1a. Completed a course (which contains an exam or competency assessment) or examination* in dental radiography approved by the Wyoming Board of Dental Examiners (WBDE) within one year immediately prior to the date of application OR
1b. Been authorized to expose dental radiographs in another jurisdiction within the last five (5) years
AND
2. Apply to the WBDE for a dental radiography permit.
*DANB’s Radiation Health and Safety (RHS) exam meets the examination requirement.
