Karen Minca, CDPMA, became a DANB Certificant in 1995. She was first elected to DANB's Board of Directors in August 2006 and is now serving the second of a possible two three-year terms. DANB's Board elected Ms. Minca from a slate of qualified nominees provided by the American Dental Assistants Association (ADAA).
Ms. Minca works as a Chairside/Trainer for the Michigan Department of Corrections in Lapeer, Mich., where she teaches dental staff and has helped to open and staff a new dental clinic. She also consults with offices on infection control protocol, teaches CPR and standard first aid, and lectures to dental assisting students.
She holds an associate’s degree in applied sciences from Mott Community College and has 40 years of experience working in chairside or managerial positions in various dental offices.
Ms. Minca is the current Annual Session Chairman for the Michigan Dental Assistants Association. She has been active at both the state and local ADAA levels and has held various other positions within the organization, including President of the MDAA and President of the Genesee District Dental Assistants Society. She received the Sullivan Schein Award for Excellence from the Sixth District at the 2005 ADAA Annual Meeting.
