Karen Minca, CDPMA, became a DANB Certificant in 1995. She was elected to the Dental Assisting National Board’s (DANB’s) Board of Directors in August 2006 and is serving the first of a possible two three-year terms as ADAA clinical nominee.
Ms. Minca works as Chairside/trainer for the Michigan Department of Corrections in Lapeer, MI, where she teaches dental staff and has helped to open and staff a new dental clinic. She also consults with offices on infection control protocol, teaches CPR and standard first aid, and lectures to dental assisting students.
She holds an associate’s degree in applied sciences from Mott Community College and has 38 years of experience working in chairside or managerial positions in various dental offices.
Ms. Minca is the current Annual Session and Membership Chairman for the Michigan Dental Assistants Association. She has held various other positions within the organization, including two terms as President. She received the Sullivan Schein Award for Excellence from the Sixth District at the 2005 American Dental Assistants Association conference. She has also served in all offices of the Genesee District Dental Assistants Society. Her community service activities include helping with dental fairs for children and leading continuing education programs.
She believes that communication between credentialed Certificants and state and national organizations is critical to promoting the dental assisting profession and raising the quality of standards and education. |
