Howard C. Bell, DDS, is one of two American Dental Association (ADA) representatives to the Dental Assisting National Board’s (DANB’s) Board of Directors. Elected in 2004, he is currently serving his second of a possible two three-year terms.
Dr. Bell graduated from dental school in 1977 and immediately became involved in his affiliate and component dental associations. He was later asked by the component to serve on the Florida Dental Association (FDA) Council on Dental Education, serving as Chairman from 1986-1998. He is currently on the FDA Board of Trustees.
In this capacity, Dr. Bell had the opportunity to work with the ADA Council on Dental Practice on such issues as increasing the number of qualified dental auxiliaries in the United States. Along with a representative of the ADAA, he was asked to give a presentation on distance learning education to this council. He was also asked to serve in several other capacities at the FDA level and with the Florida Dental Health Foundation.
Dr. Bell has been a Florida delegate to the ADA House of Delegates for eight years. He has become very familiar with the broad spectrum of issues facing dental practitioners. Dr. Bell has also served two two-year terms (1994-96 and 2000-02) as the President of the Florida Dental Health Foundation. In 2006, the FDA named him Dentist of the Year in recognition for his leadership, positive attitude, and dedication to the betterment of the dental profession. |
