Earning DANB certification is not only a professional achievement, but a personal one as well. DANB certification must be renewed annually. Each year, DANB certificants must meet DANB's Recertification Requirements, including earning the appropriate number of Continuing Dental Education (CDE) credits.

DANB Certificants can earn 12 CDE credits conveniently and affordably through DANB's Professional Development Exam Program (PDEP). This convenient, in-home exam program is available only to current or former DANB Certificants. DANB Certificants who purchase DANB's PDEP program will receive a packet in the mail which contains five articles from dental journals selected by DANB’s Exam Programs Committee. Once the materials have been read, fill out the exam answer sheet and mail it back to DANB before the deadline. Passing the PDEP exam earns 12 CDE credits under Category 3 (DANB Exams) of the DANB Recertification Requirements. PDEP can be ordered at any time and CDE credits carry over up to two years.
